THOMASVILLE'S NICK TERRY BLITZES B FLIGHT ON EGOLF TOUR
Pittsboro, NC (April 17, 2010) - In his second Tour season, Thomasville's Nick Terry had won only once coming into today's event at The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge. He accomplished that feat by shooting an 80 last year. It was going to take a special effort to be victorious in this tournament due to the fact that there were 38 players in the B Flight vying for the title. Terry was more than equal to the task, as he shot the lowest round in the entire event, including the Championship and A Flights, with an even par 72. Mark Cobb of Hope Mills was 4 strokes back in 2nd.
"Granted, the B Flight played from shorter tees than the 'big boys' ", said Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck, "but considering his past performance on-Tour, Nick out-did himself today. When this score is posted however, it may bring his Tour handicap into A Flight range. As a matter of fact, a number of guys may be making a jump after this event - that's why we track everyone's handicap on-Tour".
Two others who may be making the move up a flight were the 1st and 2nd place C Flight finishers. Clemmon's Jack Frazier and Winston-Salem's Steve Ball shot 80 and 82 respectively to top the field.
Multiple Tour event winner Tracey King of Selma edged Todd Prichard of Apex by 1 stroke - 74 to 75 - to secure the Championship Flight win, while Pittsboro's William Garrett also enjoyed a one stroke margin of victory over 2 Raleigh residents - Scott Mankins and William Gwinn to take the top spot in the A Flight with a 78.
