RALEIGH'S BELL CRUISES TO MAJOR EVENT EGOLF WIN

Lexington, NC (June 26, 2010) - Just like the PGA Tour, the Egolf Amateur Tour has 4 Major Championships that are held each season. In 5 years of Tour competition, Raleigh's Steven Bell had managed 2 wins in regular Tour play, but had never enjoyed the taste of victory in a Major Event - that is until today. He was the only C Flight player to break 90 with an 85 at Sapona Country Club, a challenging course that has had a past history of yielding very few low scores to Tour members.
"Sapona has torn me apart in past years", stated Bell. "I knew I had to stay in the moment and focus. I wasn't thinking of a specific score. I told my playing partners that playing smart on this course is the most important thing".
With his Major win, Bell and the other 3 Flight winners at Sapona, lock up a spot in the year ending Egolf National Finals in Hilton Head in October. That event brings together the top 600 players from the 40 Tours nationwide.
While Bell had a rather comfortable margin of victory in the C Flight, the same couldn't be said of the B Flight, where a total of 2 shots separated the top 4 finishers. Coming out on top of that group was Greensboro's Cuong Ton with a 75, followed 1 stroke back by Rocky Mount's Jeffery Silver. Rob Nash of Clemmons and James Earles of Greensboro both fired 77s.
While the Championship and A Flights might not have posted scores as impressive as their B & C counterparts, it is only fair to note that they played from the Blue tees, which added 500 yards to the course as they played it. Top dog in the Championship Flight was Kernersville's Park Williams with a 75, while the A Flight was won by Greg Grabus of Raleigh, turning in a 77. Grabus, a Tour charter-member with 12 years of Tour experience under his belt, also enjoyed his 1st "Major" Tour win.
