Hey Guys:
The Legacy Golf Links tournament is almost full, sign up now if you would like to play! Over 100 players signed up and paid as of January 15th.
I want to take this time to thank you for your support of the Tour. We enjoyed a very successful year "on-Tour" in 2008 and your participation in that effort is greatly appreciated. As we look ahead to 2009, I expect it to be every bit as positive as last year.
There have been a number of things I've been working on since I last saw you, and I wanted to briefly go over some of the highlights of what you can look forward to this coming season. We've added some new courses, changed a few dates (see full tour schedule below) to take better advantage of course conditions and gone to a new & exciting prize pool package.
1. NEW COURSES
We have been able to secure event dates for the following courses that were not on the 2008 schedule: Mid Pines Resort, Forest Oaks CC (host of the PGA Tour Greater Greensboro Open for many years prior to last year), Cross Creek CC, Seven Lakes CC, and Falls Village GC. With these new additions, we will have events on no fewer than seven totally private venues in 2009.
The improved schedule will make us more attractive to prospective new members (as well as "old pros" such as yourself) and hopefully result in larger events with bigger prize pools, not to mention the fact that it will attract even more first rate courses to sign on for future seasons.
2. DATE CHANGES FOR BETTER COURSE CONDITIONS
A number of venues we have used in the past have been rescheduled for a more advantageous date during the season. Some courses that don't overseed have been moved to later in the year, while some of the better courses have been moved from real "Hot Weather" dates to hopefully milder ones. Great care has been taken to assure that aeration marks will be minimal on all greens throughout the 2009 campaign.
3. PRIZE POOL
We will be going with a national firm that provides employee and customer incentive programs to Fortune 500 companies for our normal prize pool payouts after each event. I have attempted with no success through the years to get a "hook-up" of this nature so that you won't be limited to strictly golf equipment purchases with your winnings. However, now the company that I will be going through, Perks and Pats.Com, will offer over a million choices on the internet for you to choose from, including trips and sporting event tickets. I also think that this might make some wives and girlfriends a little more inclined to encourage you to play more often.
Please note that as I do each year, there is an early payment discount for anyone who pays their membership fee before Jan 1. The fee remains the same as it has been for the last few years - $80. If you choose to pay it prior to Jan 1, there is a $10 discount to $70.
In closing I would again like to thank you of your loyal support of the Tour. I look forward to seeing some of you at our annual pre-season event at The Legacy on Jan 31, and the rest of you a little later on when the Tour starts up for the regular season. The full schedule is now on the website at amateurgolftour.net.
Sincerely,
Bruce
The Legacy in Aberdeen in 15 Days.
This is the Season Opener, So You Truly Don't Want to Miss This One.
We will once again have members from both the egolf Amateur Golf Tour and the Harris Teeter Senior Tour compete in this season-opener. Because of the two Tours competing, and "cabin-fever" working for us, this event always draws a large field and equally large prize pool. Obviously on that date we're "rolling-the-dice" on the weather, but we have some flexibility to reschedule if conditions warrant.
To register to play, call or email Bruce at 336- 495-6556 or behgolf@aol.com.
