2014 GOLFWEEK AMATEUR GOLF TOUR
SATURDAY, MARCH 22, 2014
BENTWINDS COUNTRY CLUB
-----
|
===============================================================
------Bentwinds Country Club------
Bentwinds - Secures its Place As one of Top Playing Private Courses in the Triangle.
Bentwinds Country Club was designed and shaped through farm lands and tall pines and oaks.
Recently renovated, Kris Spence took what was a great base to make Bentwinds one of Central North Carolina’s finest golf courses. Strategic bunker placement and wonderfully defined tiff sport bermudagrass fairways creates challenging shot angles to the A-1 A-4 bentgrass greens.
Tour players will encounter narrow fairways, sloping greens, and a variety of hazards at Bentwinds. Regardless of when you play Bentwinds finishing holes Nos 16, 17, and 18, they could present difficult challenges that will require you to carefully place your tee shots and demand solid iron play to reach these well-protected greens.
Tour Members who have played here before, always makes this venue one of the courses they play during the season. For you newbies, that means don't miss this gem.
To reserve your place and to sign-up, please reply to this email, sign-up on-line or call Bruce Hallenbeck.
Everyone loves this course and you have a chance for a career round.

"Improve your golf mental toughness 10-fold"
Every golfer has heard the saying "It's all in your head" or "Golf is 90% mental" or "Golf is the most mentally demanding sport in the world." Yet what do golfers do about it? Well, most often absolutley nothing! Not necessarily because they don't want to, but sometimes golfers actually think the mental game doesn't matter to them!
Click Here to Unlock Your Mind and Shoot Better Golf
EVERY golfer can benefit from increasing their mental toughness and harnessing the full power of thier mind!
Many golfers naively get stuck into thinking that the mental game only matters for elite players or pros who make a living golfing. Nonsense! EVERY golfer needs to use their mind properly.
-
It is your mind that determines how well you learn when taking lessons. (and this training course is packed with accelerated learning techniques that will have you absorbing more from lessons)
-
It is your mind that will allow you to set up to the ball correctly and commit to your swing (or not!).
-
It is your mind that will either stay focused under pressure and get you to make a smooth, fluid stroke when you need to drain an 8 footer for the win, or have you choking like a dog and collapsing like a house of cards when the heat is on!

FAYETTEVILLE'S HARDEE TAKES GOLFWEEK TOUR EVENT
Holly Springs, NC
March 15, 2014
Larry Hardee of Fayetteville fired a 2-under par 70 and cruised to victory in the Championship Flight of the Golfweek Amateur Golf Tour event held at Devils Ridge Country Club. Hardee's score was 8 shots clear of runner-up Coray Mitchell of Greensboro.
Devils Ridge Flight Winners (left to Right)
Championship Flight - Larry Hardee; A Flight - Ryan Hair
Hardee posted 5 birdies and narrowly missed a couple more on the 6,940 yard layout. Hardee was playing in only his second event in this, his rookie season "on-Tour". "Larry's been 'in-the-money' in both of his events so far", said Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "I think he's got a great chance to win a few more before the season's over".
Another Tour member who was also in mid-season form was Ryan Hair from Hope Mills shooting a 75 for a comfortable win in the A Flight competition. Greensboro's Ken Carlyle was the only other flight member to break 80 with a 79. Hair's 75 was his second best scoring effort in a Tour event.
Devils Ridge Flight Winners (left to Right)
B Flight - Tom Vasseur; C Flight - Rob Bulgarino;
D Flight - Elvis Sheehan
Tour veteran Tom Vasseur, a member at Devil's Ridge used his course knowledge to help him post a winning score of 84 in the B Flight. Vasseur, who suffered a serious leg injury which caused him to miss most of last year was back in top form, edging Winston-Salem's Jason Smith by 1 stroke.
Raleigh's Rob Bulgarino had comfortable 4 shot margin of victory over past Tour National Champion Henry Lech of Fayetteville in the C Flight - 87 to 91.
Last year's D Flight National champ, Elvis Sheahan of Durham fired an even 100 to take top honors in the D Flight. He was 1 shot clear of Denis Meyer from Apex who was making his Golfweek Tour debut.
Next week the Tour stays close to the Holly Springs area with an event Saturday, March 22 at Bentwinds Golf and Country Club in Fuquay-Varina.
Always one of the premier venues of the Golfweek season, there are spots available for that tournament. Any amateur golfer interested in playing in that event can call Hallenbeck at 336-495-6556 or email him at behgolf@aol.com.

Rules Review
It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score?
Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009.
I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm.
There will be no trick questions or hidden information.

Question from week #239
Taylor’s ball has come to rest on a part of the course which serves as a foot path with wooden steps connecting the cart parking area with the approach to the green. The area between the widely spaced steps is covered with wood mulch. Pick the best answer.
A. Taylor must play the ball as it lies unless one of the steps interferes with her stroke or stance.
B. Taylor may treat the entire area as an immovable obstruction and may take relief under R24-2b.
C. Taylor may play the ball as it lies, and may remove select pieces of mulch if they are not solidly imbedded as they are deemed loose impediments. Taylor must be careful not to move the ball in the process. (R23-1)
D. Taylor may proceed under either option B or C above.
Answer:
D is the most complete answer.
Both answers B and C are options for how Taylor proceeds.
Answer A is flat out wrong.

Tour Weather Guidelines:
Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If the course is open, we're going to play.
The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).
In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.
Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.
If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
