3-MAN PLAYOFF DECIDES EGOLF EVENT

Pinehurst, NC (August 15, 2009) - Greensboro's Tim Thilo stood on the 18th tee-box, the first tee of a sudden-death playoff, thinking that he'd need to do something special to take home a win for the Egolf Tour's A Flight competition here Saturday. Both Randleman's Kenny Smith and Fayetteville's David Teal had matched his score of 76 during regulation play and both had hit the ball well all day.
However, in a playoff that was somewhat anti-climatic, it turned out that all he needed was a routine 2-putt par to grab the victory, as Smith's tee shot strayed OB and Teal failed to get up and down from a greenside bunker after his second shot went awry.
Competition was close in 2 of the other 3 Flights as well as both Fuquay-Varina's Bob Christenson in the Championship Flight and Tim Ward of Greensboro in the B Flight enjoyed single stroke victories. Christenson over Jim Arlington of Apex, and Ward over two golfers - Roseboro's Kyle Knowles and Thomasville's Nick Terry.
Winston-Salem's Austin Craven not only won a title in the C Flight, he also won a promotion to the B Flight with his 79, good for a 4-stroke win over Dryfork, VA's Greg Dotson and Doug Tompkins of Linden.
