FAYETTEVILLE'S SANDERS WIND WHIPPED EGOLF WINNER

Clayton, NC (March 20, 2010) - Fayetteville golfers emerged victorious in three of the four flights contested at Saturday's Egolf Tour event held at Riverwood GC. Chip Collins and Juan Sanders, who won the Championship and A Flight titles respectively both hail from the city itself, while B Flight victor Mark Cobb calls Hope Mills home.
The lone "outsider" in the group of Flight winners was Youngsville's Johnny Brooks who topped the C Flight competition. Brooks had to go the "extra mile" for his win. His 87 was matched by Rocky Mount's Randy Starr. As is the case with all first place ties on-Tour, the two headed back to the course for a sudden death playoff. "We both kinda hit the ball all over the place" stated Starr, "and Johnny was able to steady things out in the end".
B Flight winner Cobb had to go the playoff route as well for his win, battling Raleigh's Richard McMinis for the top spot after both posted regulation 82s. Unlike the C Flight playoff, which was more-or-less a battle of attrition, both players were solid with Cobb canning an 8-foot birdie putt on the 2nd playoff hole for the win. "Pretty neat - PGA playoffs aren't any more dramatic than that" quipped Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck.
In the Championship Flight Chip Collins, who also won his last Egolf outing playing on the Hilton Head Tour, posted a 73 that left him 3-strokes clear of Raleigh's Dan Rodgers and Clayton's Kevin Miller.
Rob Andrews of Jamestown with his second Tour runner-up finish in a row, and Four Oaks' Brad Morris finished five strokes behind A Flight champ Sanders who carded a 76. "I'm gonna win a bunch of these", stated a confident Sanders.
"We're getting a bunch of new players out each week. That situation was borne out today by the fact that 3 of the 4 flight winners were Tour rookies, with Cobb being the only Tour veteran of the bunch", said Hallenbeck.
