WEATHER WOES ONCE AGAIN PLAGUE EGOLF EVENT!

Clayton, NC – (April 12, 2008) – For a fifth straight scheduled week, The Egolf Tour members who teed it up at The Neuse Golf Club Saturday were faced with rough weather conditions as they started out. Lightning and Thunder which arrived about 4 holes into the event caused a number of groups to retreat to the clubhouse for safety concerns. However, eventually the weather cleared, and all groups finished their 18-hole rounds in relatively pleasant conditions.
“I’ve never seen anything like this since I started on-Tourâ€, stated 11-year tour member Russ Padgett, referring to the spate of bad weather that has been such a major factor during the Tour’s first two months.
Among those who braved the elements and persevered successfully was Smithfield’s Johnny Baker who posted a 77 from the 7,010 yard Black Tees to take the top spot in the Championship Flight. Yadkinville’s Quentin Caudle was one back in second.
It took Raleigh’s Mike Mullins one extra hole to edge Greensboro’s Tim Thilo in a playoff in the A Flight after both posted regulation 82s. Raleigh’s Padgett nipped Kevin Davenport for third in the flight in a scorecard playoff for third.
Considering the conditions early in the round, Mark Peele’s 80 for the B Flight victory was a truly outstanding score. He outdistanced Raleigh’s Doug Grendel by 4 strokes for the win. Mark Cobb of Hope Mills continued his strong play in the C Flight with an 87 and a 3-stoke win over Raleigh’s Shirral Davis.
