Holly Springs, NC (June 12, 2010) - Randleman's Bobby Elder, who entered the Egolf Amateur Tour event at The Club at 12 Oaks, with a Tour scoring average of 84 and a handicap of 6.5, turned in his best effort of the season Saturday as his 73 was the lowest score in any of the 4 flights contested. It was by far his lowest score of the year.
In a round highlighted by 3 consecutive birdies and a front-side 33, Elder was 3 strokes clear of his nearest A Flight opponents, and 4 below the Championship Flight winner, Todd Pritchard of Apex. (It should be noted however, that Pritchard did play from tees approximately 500 yards longer than Elder's A Flight).
"It was interesting that Elder was able go so low today, because this is one tough track and scores were a lot higher than average across the board", said Assistant Tour Director Tom Kubla.
Jeffery Silver of the Downeast Division of the Egolf Tour took top honors in the B Flight with an 82, While Raleigh's Harold Alvarez was the only C Flighter to break 90 with an 89, that gave him his first victory of the 2010 campaign.
