Asheboro, NC (May 15, 2010) - All it took was a par on the 1st playoff hole to secure a victory for Jim Arlington of Apex in the Championship Flight at the Egolf Event held at Pinewood Country Club today. Arlington finished regulation play tied with Kernersville's Park Williams after both had posted 75s in regulation. Pinewood member Chris Jarrell won a tiebreaker for 3rd with a 78. Arlington, who had played a full schedule last season, was playing in his first Tour event for 2010. "Not a bad start", said Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. David Hopkins of Kernersville, who started the season in the B Flight, fired a 76 for a 3-stroke victory in the A Flight competition. "I'm proud of David" said Hallenbeck. "When they move up a flight and take a win, that's something special". Hopkins beat Greensboro's Mike Crawford and Durham's Phil Solesky, who grabbed 2nd and 3rd respectively with a 79 and 80. In B Flight action, Laurenburg's Kyle Smith was the only player to break 80 with a 78 for the top spot in the flight. Pinehurst's Tom Kubla edged out Mike Groenewald of Morrisville for 2nd in a card playoff after both shot 81s. In the C Flight, Rolesville's Bill Wilkinson continued his strong play this season with an 83 that was 4-strokes clear of a trio of golfers - Bill Bridges of Sanford, Mark Harders of Raleigh. and Pittsboro's Mike Thomas.
