Champ-A-B-C- Flight winners from Pinewood CC
Asheboro, NC (June 27, 2009) - Playing out of his home course, Rick Trudgeon of Asheboro made good use of local knowledge in firing a 2-under 70 to win the Championship Flight of the Egolf Amateur Golf Tour competition held at Pinewood Country Club Saturday. Trudgeon was the picture of consistency with 35s for both his front and back nine scores. Kevin Currin of Durham, who has aspirations of playing at the next level professionally, was one back with a 71.
The A Flight saw Tour veteran Bob Webber of Winston-Salem post his second lowest score ever in Tour play with a 73 for the win. Webber couldn't have wasted a single shot however, because High Point's Brian Yokley finished second, one-back, with a 74.
Pittsboro's Richard Pfister, who won last week at The Pit in Pinehurst, made it back-to-back wins in the B Flight with a 75. He enjoyed a comfortable 4-stroke win over Winston's Darren Martin and Mike Germain of Raleigh. Jason Smith of Winston-Salem matched Pfister's 4-stroke cushion of victory in the C Flight with an 83. Austrailian native Mark Harders of Raleigh was the runner-up.
