FUQUAY'S CHRISTENSON WINS EGOLF EVENT

Holly Springs, NC (August 8, 2009) - Bob Christenson of Fuquay-Varina shot a 1-over 73 in the Championship Flight of the Egolf Amateur Golf Tour event held today at Devils Ridge Country Club. That score gave him a comfortable 4-stroke margin of victory over 3 other Tour members - Karl Reamer and James Dill, both of Cary, and Advance's Gene Queen.
Cary's Michael Kang and Brad Morris of Four Oaks had to go 4 extra holes to determine an A Flight victor, as both turned in regulation 77s. Morris missed a golden opportunity on the 3rd playoff hole, missing a 3-foot birdie putt that would have ended it right there, allowing Kang to "stay alive" in the sudden death format. Kang, who has been playing very well on Tour since joining less than a month ago, took full advantage of the break by posting his own birdie on the next hole to secure the win. It was Kang's second playoff win in as many trys.
Adam Perry of Greensboro took home his first winner's trophy in 2 years of Tour play as his 77 gave him a 3-stroke edge over Jeff Posey, also from Greensboro, in the B Flight competition. In C Flight action, Linden's Doug Tompkins continued the recent trend of break-out scores in the flight as he posted an 81. Tompkins was 4-strokes clear of Staley's Randy Clark, a Tour newcomer playing in his very first event, and Madison's Russ Rilling.
