GREENVILLE'S AARON STUNS FIELD AT EGOLF EVENT

Holly Springs, NC (August 14, 2010) - Joshua Aaron of Greenville, who plays out of the Downeast Division of the Egolf Tour, played as a guest in this week's Raleigh Tour event held at Devils Ridge CC. Aaron did the nearly impossible, as the A Flight player shot a remarkable 6-under par 66 for a 12 stroke flight win.
"We've never in 12 years had an A Flight player shoot anywhere near that low", stated Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "Like all players from any Egolf Tour nationwide, Joshua is welcome to come back and play as a guest again, but on the strength of today's effort, if he does come back, it will be in the Championship Flight".
Speaking of the Championship Flight, while the A, B, and C Flights played from the 6,430 yard Blue tees, the Champs played from the 7,002 yard Black tees. That might account for some of the disparity, as no one in the Championship Flight came close to matching Aaron's 66. The best effort was turned in by Raleigh's Rob Clarke with a 77.
The B Flight had to go to a sudden death playoff, as 2 first-year players vied for the top spot after posting regulation 80s. Pittsboro's Robert Train managed to edge Raleigh's Chris Robertson by a single stroke on the 1st playoff hole. It was Robertson's Tour debut.
Rocky Mount's Randy Starr made it 2 victories in his last 3 Tour starts as his 90 was the class of the C Flight competition.
