3 PLAYERS WIN FLIGHTS IN SUDDEN DEATH ON EGOLF AMATEUR TOUR

Sanford, NC (September 18, 2010) - Four flights are contested in every Pinehurst area Egolf Amateur Tour event. In Saturday's Carolina Trace Country Club event on the Lakes Course, sudden death was needed to determine a winner in 3 of those 4 flights. Interesting enough, for the winners of each of these playoffs it was their very first Tour victory.
Sonny Cole probably had the toughest task in winning his A Flight title, as he was tied after regulation play with 3 other Tour members - Fuquay-Varina's Andy Jackson, William Garrett of Pittsboro, and Randleman's Bobby Elder. All 3 posted 79s during regulation play. Cole's playoff ended with a simple par on the 496 yard, par-5, 3rd hole, which proved to be enough for him to bring home the win.
In the B Flight, Madison's Rus Rilling edged out Godwin's Jay Yergeau for the top spot after both turned in 82s. Rilling, who had been a mainstay on-Tour in the C Flight for a number of years, watched his Tour handicap drop steadily during the early portion of this season, until it placed him in the B Flight range. "It's always special when a guy moves up a flight and wins one" said Ramseur's Mike Hindmarsh, who finished 3rd behind Rilling and Yergeau.
Gibsonville's Jesse Ingle and Raleigh's Shirral Davis had problems with their tee shots on the very 1st hole of their C Flight playoff. Ingle managed to recover just enough to prevail with a bogey for the win on that 1st hole. Their regulation 88s were 1 stroke better than Raleigh's Chris Chapman.
There was no playoff excitement in the Championship Flight as Winston-Salem's Bryan Sepich enjoyed a 10-stroke margin of victory over Thomasville's Dan Anthony with a 73.
"Bryan is an old Tour 'Hand", and he's tasted victory before", stated Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "But if you're gonna get your first Tour winner's trophy, like the other 3 guys did today, doing it in a sudden-death playoff has got to make it pretty special. I'm real proud of all 3 of 'em".
