Pittsboro, NC (April 18, 2009) - Kevin Miller's Egolf Tour career has gotten off to a red-hot start. Playing in his rookie season "on-Tour", Miller made it 2 wins in as many starts Saturday at Chapel Ridge GC as he won a sudden death playoff with Kernersville's Park Williams for top honors in the Championship Flight competition. Miller had won his initial event at Forest Oaks Country Club two weeks ago.
Three pars in-a-row did the trick for Miller in the playoff, as Williams 3-putted the 3rd green for bogey. Both shot 75s over their regulation 18 holes.
The A Flight was the only one that didn't need extra holes to crown a champion. Jacksonville, Florida's Jon Blum shot a 74 for a comfortable 5-stroke margin of victory over three players: Raleigh's William Gwinn, Ted Ciesla of Apex, and Laurinburg's Robin Neverve. "I don't know what it is, but I can't do a thing when I play on the Jacksonville Tour", stated Blum. "Coming up here to play just seems to bring out the best in me".
Like the Championship Flight, the top spot in the B and C Flights both were decided by a playoff. After shooting identical 80s, Roseboro's Jamie Knowles prevailed over Mount Airy's Ron Snow in the B Flight for 1st place. Clemmons' Jack Frazier did the same in the C Flight against Rocky Mount's James Lingo after both posted 84s.
"Close competition and new guys doing well on Tour is what it's all about", said Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "Today is very much like it's been all season up to this point".
