Graham. NC  (March 26, 2011)  -  Under gray skies and cool temperatures two Greensboro Tour members - Sean Pardue and Tod Dauler battled it out 'til the last hole for Championship Flight supremacy in the Golfweek Amateur Tour event at The Challenge Golf Club.  Pardue, a Tour veteran who through the years had worked his way up to the Championship Flight from A Flight competition, emerged the winner - 75 to 76.  A key to Pardue's victory was the eagle-3 he posted on the 499-yard, 12th hole. Despite dire weather forecasts that promised rain, all but one participant who signed up for the event actually showed up to play.  Not a single drop of rain fell during the event. Pardue will have to face some new competition in his next event, as another player will be making the jump to Championship play from the A Flight.  Winston-Salem's Jim McDowell won the sudden-death playoff for the A Flight crown with Greensboro's Ken Carlyle after both posted regulation 75s.  Shortly after his win, McDowell stated "I've got no problem with going up to Championship in future events".
In the B Flight Pelham's Mark Dill experienced a "career" day.  Dill, who sports a Tour scoring average of 85.8 over the last 2 years of competition, fired a 76 for a comfortable 3-stroke edge over Martinsville, VA's JD Draper.  "I've had more scores in the 90s than the 70s on-Tour" quipped Dill.
Eleven year Tour veteran Brett Simon of Kernersville had his victory drought come to an end in the C Flight as his 84 was the class of the field.  Second-year player Michael Hawkins, also from Kernersville, was 2 strokes back with an 86.
The D Flight, which is growing with each event, saw Greensboro's Ken White grab the top spot with an even 100.  Tony Jenkins of Cary and another Greensboro member, Keith Thomas, were 1-back at 101. "I was proud of the guys who made it out today and lived up to their commitment to play regardless of the bad weather reports.  We're always looking for members with that love of the game", stated Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck.  "Any amateur golfer interested in playing in one of our events can contact me at 336-495-6556, or by email at behgolf@aol.com".
