Bermuda Run, NC (March 1, 2008) - Exactly 100 golfers teed it up in the regular season debut of the Egolf Amateur Golf Tour. Windy conditions including gusts up to 30 mph affected scores throughout the field, but that didn’t stop a few Tour members from posting exceptional numbers in their first outing of the year. Charlotte Tour member Andrew Shiflet blistered the Championship flight field with a 2-under 68. Nick Sult of Kernersville finished second, 5 strokes back while Winston-Salem’s James Goin rounded out the top 3 with a 75. Second-year Tour member Bobby Elder of Randleman took home his first A Flight trophy with a 77 for the win. Pinnacle’s Dustin Woods nipped Gary Sample of Winston-Salem in a card playoff for second as both posted 79s. In the B Flight Wake Forest’s Chris Hensley earned the first “battlefield promotion” of the young season as his 75 not only took first place and the $250.00 gift certificate that went with it, but also moved his Tour Handicap into A Flight range where he’ll compete in his next event. Rob Nash of Clemmons was second with a 79, followed by Tour rookie John Kreischer of West End. Playing in his very first Egolf event, Kreischer’s 83 took third. In the C Flight Winston’s Shane Davis came roaring back after a year’s absence from Tour play to fire an 87, good for a 2 stroke victory over Gibsonville’s Jesse Ingle and Greensboro’s Chris Vetrone. The Egolf Tour, which is open to any amateur golfer, is still accepting new members for this season.
