GARNER'S TORRENCE TAKES EGOLF TITLE AT FALLS VILLAGE

Durham, NC (March 6, 2010) - While the generally high scores in each flight reflected the lack of playing and practice time Tour members have enjoyed this winter, Clay Torrence of Garner managed to post a solid number in A Flight competition today in the Egolf Tour event held at Falls Village Golf Club. His 77 was the lowest score in the event, including those in the Championship Flight. Coming in 2nd in the flight was Durham's Angel Milne, who carded an 80.
Graham's Curtis Allison shot a 78, 4-strokes better than both High Point's Jim Goulding and Thomasville's Dan Anthony to capture 1st with the "Big Boys" in the Championship Flight. (Allison also pocketed one of three "skins" in the event to cap a most profitable day).
Glen McDonald of Oak Ridge edged Tour veteran Darren Martin of Winston-Salem in a card playoff for the top spot in the B Flight after both posted 85s. "Normally we would have had those guys go back out on the course to decide the issue", stated Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck, "but a frost delay in the morning pushed back tee times for the entire day, and after our late start, there just wasn't enough light to contest a playoff on the course".
The C Flight was decided in the same manner as Cary's Bill Wilkinson, a Tour rookie, grabbed his 1st win in a card playoff with James Eatmon of Sims. It was the 1st C Flight win for a score above 90 in some time, as both shot 91s.
"Once again, new members were very much a factor at the top of the leaderboards in all flights," said Hallenbeck. "We're getting new guys every week and they're doing well".
