Buies Creek, NC (April 26, 2008) - Cameron’s Bill Hornbaker toured the 6,739 yard, par 72, Keith Hills River Course Saturday in 79 strokes and won his Flight on the Egolf Amateur Golf Tour. Not an amazing set of circumstances in its own right, but when you consider that Hornbaker only took up the game 2 years ago, and that this is his first year ever playing tournament golf, it becomes pretty rare. When you throw in the fact that Hornbaker was playing in the C Flight and he won by an amazing 9 strokes over his closest competitor, setting a flight scoring record in the process, it becomes truly remarkable. “It’s not gonna hurt my feelings to move up to the B Flight” said Hornbaker during his trophy presentation. “I think I’m ready”. B Flight golfers – watch out. Hornbaker’s efforts somewhat overshadowed a great round turned in by Randleman’s Brock Elder in the Championship Flight. Elder posted a 1-under 71 and had a comfortable 5 shot cushion for the win. Playing in his first event of the 2008 season, Elder also blasted a shot to take the long drive contest in his flight for good measure. Richard McMinis of Raleigh won top honors in the B Flight with a 79, and Thad Armbruster’s 75 was good for the A Flight win.
