Greensboro, NC - (March 28, 2009) There have been over 100 eagles registered in Egolf Triad Tour competition during the last decade, but no one had ever posted an eagle and a double eagle during the same round of Tour play. That is until Saturday at Bryan Park. Playing the 482 yard, par 5, 3rd hole on the Champions course, Raleigh's Alex Brennan knocked his second shot "into the jar" for a double eagle 2. He followed that up with a more conventional eagle 3 on the 501 yard, par 5, 11th hole for good measure. These two holes went a long way towards propelling him to a 2-under score of 70 on the 6,451 yard track, and a victory in the Championship Flight.
Brennan enjoyed a 5-stroke margin over Advance's Gene Queen. Raleigh's Paul Brewer rounded out the top 3 spots with a 76.
Greensboro's Tim Thilo shot a 77 and edged Winston-Salem's Bob Webber by a single stroke in taking the A Flight win. Jamestown's Rob Andrews posted an 82 to finish "in-the-money" in third.
Larry Baggett of Godwin, a Tour newcomer this season, enjoyed his first Egolf victory with a 79 that captured top honors in the B Flight. Ramseur's Mike Hindmarsh continued his consistent play of late with an 81 and a second place finish. Darren Martin of Winston-Salem was one back in third.
Pittsboro's Charles Powell fashioned an 82 to win the C Flight competition, finishing 2-strokes ahead of High Point's Pride Grimm. Jesse Ingle of Gibsonville took third with an 87. "Charles' play of late has been great" said Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "Like every Tour member I'll be checking his Tour handicap that we track after each event to make sure he's competing in the appropriate flight".
