Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers continues on a roll this year recording yet another first place victory at Rocky River on Saturday. Jaspers was the only player to break par at Rocky River by firing a smooth 2 under par 70. Second place went to Michael Bailey with 73, while Robert Surratt finished in third with 74. Todd McPherson, last years winner at Rocky River, had it going on the front nine but double bogies at 14 and 17 on the back nine gave him a fourth place finish at 76.
A Flight:
Mike Nasekos and Phil Gregorich finished the day tied at 80 which would also follow B & C Flight sudden-death playoffs. Nasekos who has had five 2nd place finishes in his A Flight Career had never won before. Gregorich a tour rookie was feeling the pressure of his first sudden-death playoff on tour. Both players have the first hole the par 3 10th with pars but it was Nasekos on the par 4 11th that drained his birdie putt to win in style. Chad Ballard finished in third place with 81 and George Shadwick rounded out the top four places at 83.
B Flight:
Greg McCoy and David Ridenhour also found themselves going into sudden-death on Saturday as both players shot 77. McCoy bested Ridenhour with par on the first hole to capture his second victory of the 2010 season. Scott Ide was right on their heels but finished one shot back at 78, good enough for solo third. Neil White from the Western Piedmont tour rounded out the top four places with 80.
C Flight:
Sticking with the theme of the day C flight once again produced another Sudden-Death playoff, this time Allen Hagen was matched up against newcomer Kelley Moss with both players firing 83’s. Hagen bested Moss on the first playoff hole for the Rocky River victory.
