Championship Flight: David Schmidt and Michael Bailey both trailed Jim Aughtry who fired a one under par 35 on the front nine. Bailey would birdie the 10th hole and then Schmidt caught fire birding the 12, 13 & 14th holes. Bailey then would put pressure back on Schmidt by birding the 16th and 17th holes and the paring the difficult 18th to shoot 33 on the back nine for an even par 72. Schmidt would also par the 18th to take the match to sudden-death which Schmidt won. Point’s leader Joe Jaspers and Jim Aughtry both finished one shot back of the playoff with 73’s. Jaspers grabbed 3rd place over Aughtry on the scorecard playoff. A Flight: Jon Evans got off to a slow start Saturday finishing the front nine with a 43. After a bogey at the par 5 11th, Evans caught fire making birdies at 13, 14 15 and 17 to finish the back side one under par at 35. Evans 78 was good enough for his first win of the season and the only flight of the day not to go into sudden-death. Point’s leader Mike Nasekos and David Trull both finished one shot back with 79’s with Nasekos getting second on the card. Nasekos continues to knock on the door but has yet to post a victory in A flight. Gary Fesperman for the second tourney in a row cash with 4th place at 80. B Flight: Once again B flight continues to be a battle each week again with a sudden-death playoff for the second straight week. This week Jimmy Chapman, Conway Powell and Matt Cole all shot 80’s. All 3 went to went to a sudden-death playoff on the 18th hole with Matt Cole tasting victory with the only par on the hole. For Cole the victory moved him into seventh place in the points chase. Mark Hawkins finished in fourth place and only one shot out of the playoff with an 81 at Fox Den Saturday. C Flight: Jeff Gastineau and Bert Rodriguez continued the sudden-death playoff day by shooting a pair of 81’s. Both players went to the 18th hole with Rodriguez besting Gastineau with a bogie five. For Rodriguez this round lowered his handicap to move him to B flight for the remainder of the season. Matt Papes continues his improvement in C flight, finishing one shot back with 82. Rounding out the top 4 was Darnell Davis with an 87. Note: All the information is not up on the 2008 Tour Championship in Hilton Head.
