Edgewater 2018 Recap

I’d like to thank everyone for coming out to Edgewater on a
day where we had to trust that those that forecast the weather can be
wrong. The forecast on Saturday was
calling for occasional rain and highs in the 40’s and in the end we had no
rain, the sun tried to come out, but the temps were in the high 50’s low 60’s
all day long.
Championship Flight:
Our 2017 Champion, Jay Barnes got his first victory of the
season shooting the only under par round of the day. Jay’s 71 (-1) was 3 better than runner up
John Heffernan who shot 74. This is
twice now that John has finished in 2nd place this year. David Schmidt came in 3rd shooting
7 over 77. A birdie on the par 4, 14thnetted Dave a nice Skin and Super Skin payout of $424. Rounding out the top for was Jobe Dyson who
beat out Wally Love on a scorecard playoff.
Both players hot 78.
A Flight:
David Rotatori continue his strong early play, shooting a 2
over par round of 74. Dave’s front nine
set him apart from the field as he had 4 birdies and a double bogie to shoot
34. Ivan Jones (Central Carolina) finished
1 shot back shooting 75. 3rdplace was decided by a scorecard playoff. Corey Davis beat out Mike Lynch, both shooting
78. 5th and 6thwere also decided by a scorecard playoff, Judd Dye beat out Paul Aschmann, both
shooting 79.
B Flight:
Upstate member, Richard Revels had it going all day
today. Richard shot a great round of 78
and won by 4 shots over David Aussicker and Dan Ahlers. Aussicker took second based on the scorecard
playoff. Luke Lavorato continue his
strong play where he took home the C Flight National Championship, finishing in
solo 4th shooting 84. Jimmy
Chapman makes his return a successful one shooting 84 and taking home 5thplace honors.
C Flight:
This one could not be decided after 18 holes, So Chuck
Snider and Pedro Lantigua went back out to settle the score. Both players shot 84 on this day. In the end it took two extra holes for Chuck
to claim victory. Chuck a Senior Tour
member made his debut on the Golfweek side a winning one. Ken Young rounded out the top 3 with a score
of 86.
D Flight:
Again, this one could not be decided after 18 holes. So Daniel Cash and Vince Johnson made their
way back onto the course to settle things. Both players shot 90 on the
day. In the playoff, Daniel took home
the winning trophy and gift-card with a par on the first extra hole.
