Jim Aughtry (Champ Flight) Re Mills (A Flight) Greg McCoy (B Flight) Nolan Elenz (C Flight)!
Thanks to all the staff at RedBridge GC showing us their great new golf course in perfect condition even given the rain. We will all look forward to coming back next year and knowing the course better.
Championship Flight:
Jim Aughtry missed a few birdie chances on the front side on Saturday or his 73 could have easily been 70. That being said given the conditions Jim played solid all day en route to another 2009 victory. Aughtry; playing the course for the first time ever fired a 37-36 for a one over par 73. James Brown used his local knowledge to finish in second place at 74. Dave Schmidt and Mike McBride both tied at 80 with Schmidt beating out McBride on the card for 3rd place.
A Flight:
Rex Mills won for the first time this year on tour, but had to do so in a scorecard playoff. Three players all tied Saturday at 81 but because of the heavy rain and darkness we could not go out and play sudden-death so we all agreed to go to the scorecard playoff. Mills took first on the card while Sean Walsh and Chad Ballard took second and third place. This is the second week in a row for Walsh to finish in second place maybe the local finals will finally get Walsh his first victory of the season. Rounding out the top four was Tim Knight from the Columbia tour at 82.
B Flight:
Greg McCoy won for the second time this season and did so in fine fashion “muddering†through to a superb round of 78. Jerry York and Scott Ide both finished 2 behind McCoy at 80 and it was York beating out Ide for second place on the card. Dean Hearn and Joel Barlowe also tied with 81’s and Hearn beat out Barlowe for 4th spot.
C Flight:
Nolan Elenz won for the first time this season on the Charlotte Tour and captured victory by 2 shots with an 86. Point’s leader Darren Gentile kept his slim lead over 4 other players with an 88, good enough for second place. Allen Hagen fired a 90 for 3rd place and also sipped to second in the point’s race. Dana Greer continues to improve this season and captured fourth spot Saturday beating out Richard Marrazza on the card. Both players shot 92’s.
The tours final stop will be the Local Finals this Saturday and Sunday (Oct 3rd & 4th)
