Exciting Announcement from the Denver Golf Tour
Hello Denver Golfers,
I’m Doug Smith, and I’m thrilled to announce that I will be stepping into the role of Tour Director for the Denver Golfweek Amateur Tour. Many of you may already know me, but for those who don’t, I’ve been involved with the Golfweek AM Tour for over 12 years. It’s been an incredible ride filled with both the highs and lows of competitive golf, and, most importantly, the camaraderie that makes this tour so special.
First, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks to Derek Barnes, who has done an outstanding job in his time as Tour Director. He’s taken on new business ventures and, understandably, felt it was time to pass the reins so we can continue to make this tour the best experience possible for everyone. Rest assured, Derek will remain a big part of the Denver Tour, and we’re all looking forward to trying to outplay him on the course in the future!
As your new Tour Director, I’m committed to making the Denver Golfweek AM Tour one of the best regions on the circuit. I’ve met so many fantastic players over the years, and I’m excited to see both familiar faces and new ones joining us for the 2025 season and beyond. It’s all about bringing people together through the game we love.
Here are a few important updates to keep you informed:
-
Membership & Renewals: The new Membership and Renewal page is now live. Be sure to sign up or renew to keep your spot on the tour.
-
Schedule: The tournament schedule is up! Register today for your favorite tournaments. Our first two single day tournaments in Pueblo April 26 & 27 are ready to go.
-
Registration Deadline: Course policies have changed, and now many courses are requiring player confirmations 14 days ahead of the tournament. Therefore, I’m asking all players to register no later than 10 days before the event. If you’re unsure but want to play, please reach out to me ahead of the deadline, and I’ll note your interest.
-
Skins Games: A quick reminder that all skins games will be cash-only—no exceptions. Payouts will be made at the end of each round. If you can’t stick around but win a skin, I’ll make sure to get your winnings to you at your next tournament.
-
Prizes for 2025: To kick off the 2025 season, I’m guaranteeing a minimum of $125 for first place and $60 for second place in each flight at every tournament. As our membership grows, I anticipate the prize pool will increase, giving even more rewards to flight winners.
- Tee Time parings: All tee time parings will be out on the Thursday night, before the tournament date.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, ideas, or feedback. Your input is incredibly important as we work together to make the Denver Tour the best it can be. You can reach me at 720-469-0070 or via email at denver@amateurgolftour.net.
Thank you for your continued support, and I can’t wait to see you all out on the course for an amazing 2025 season!
Best regards,
Doug Smith
