Jim Aughtry, Mitch Howze, Terry Upright, William Stanton & Vince Johnson all win at River Hills!
Championship Flight:
Once again River Hills proves to be one of the toughest
courses on the Charlotte Schedule. The
course was in awesome shape as were the greens which were lighting fast. Jim Aughtry cruised along all day until a
double bogie 4 putt at the 18th but still held on for a one shot victory
at 75. Joe Jaspers finished solo second
at 76 and Rob Phillips was third with 79 followed by Darrell Campbell at 80.
A Flight:
Mitch Howze and Don Bridges still remained tied after 18
holes but it was Howze taking down Bridges in the playoff with a par at the
tricky 18th for the sudden-death victory. Mike Nasekos continue his good play and finished
solo third at 80. Jack Beach and
newcomer Colin Whitermore both fired 80’s but it was Beach on the card grabbing
4th place money.
B Flight:
Teryr Upright has been close a few times this summer but
followed posted the win and the crystal victory with 85. Jerry York who has been struggling of late
turned it around today and garnered some valuable points as he beat out his
good friend Vic Lawrence on the card at 87.
Robbie Ellis was the only other B Flighter to break 90 and finished in 4thplace with 89.
C Flight:
Wilson Stanton from the Myrtle Beach tour grabbed the
victory with 86 followed by the Upstate tours David Bolding at 88. Steve Daniels winner at Firethorne continues
to play well with 89 and Bill Holland beat out Mike Lesnick on the card at 91.
D Flight:
Vince Johnson continues to roll on with 99 and the
victory. No one else broke 100 in the
flight as Toby Strickland finished one shot back at 100. Derek Kemp was third with 102 and Crys Peyton
and Tyler Captain both fired 103’s.
