Championship Flight: Jim Aughtry birdied the 18th hole Saturday to nip Schmidt and Bailey by one shot. Aughtry was cruising along playing flawless golf Saturday when his tee shot found the water on the par 3 17th. Aughtry was unable to get it up and down and made a double bogey. Dave Schmidt playing with Aughtry made it a 3 shot swing by rolling in a 10 footer for birdie. With the par five 18th left Aughtry found himself in a three way tie with Schmidt and Michael Bailey. Aughtry’s third shot with a sand wedge spun back to about one foot to secure his victory. Schmidt beat Bailey on the score card for second place with both players shooting 72’s. Rounding out the top five was Mark Ballew in fourth and Rick Tomei in fifth with 75’s. A Flight: Mike Harter tasted victory for the first time this season with a brilliant 76 on Saturday. Mike Nasekos keeps knocking but again finished second this time with a 78. Nasekos did however take over the A Flight points lead with only 5 events left. Drew miller bested Chad Ballard by one shot with a 81 and Ballard finished fourth at 82. Ballard however cashed the only skin of the day good for $170.00 along with his fourth place check. B Flight: Western Piedmont’s Andy Murrow visited the Charlotte tour Saturday and walked home with the victory a one shot victory at 82. Asheville’s John Holland recently moved up from C Flight had no problems Saturday competing in B with a second place finish of 83. Jimmy Chapman in third place with 84 and also increased his B flight points lead. Rounding out the top four was Buddy Blackwell with an 86. It was Buddy’s first cash of the season and now he is ready for his first victory. C Flight: Jeremy Treadaway’s 86 got him first place Saturday along with a promotion to “B” Flight. Jeremy is looking forward to the challenge and knows he can compete at the next level. His 86 Saturday would have been a 4th place finish in B Flight. Good luck Jeremy! With Jeremy’s move up C flight point’s title is up for grabs. Todd Mullis will hold the lead for this week as Mullis fired a 87 to finish second at Rock Barn. Another Asheville egolf tour member cashed Saturday as Mary Jordane also shot 87 to finish in third place. Rounding out the top four was Charlotte’s own Joe Saenz at 89.
