Rick Tomei got his first Championship Flight victory ever on the egolf Amateur Tour. Tomei who was promoted last season from A Flight fired an even par 71 Saturday to beat 2 others by two shots. Eric Berry and Chad Frye both shot 73's with Berry beating out Frye on the scorecard playoff for second. Rounding out the top five was Dave Schmidt and Jeff Malone at 74. In "A Flight" Mark Gregory came on with 3 birdies in his last eight holes to fire a 76 good enough for a 2 stroke victory. Steve Williams finished second with 78 followed by Steve French with 79. Greg Ries finished in the top 4 for the second straight tournament with 80. Robert Winfrey has played on the tour for 5 years and finally broke through Saturday for his first career win in "B" Flight. Winfrey's 77 was aided by his putter which was deadly on Saturday. Finishing 3 shots back in second place was Geof Smith at 80. Steve Wichnoski, starting in his first event of 08, fired an 81 beating out Scott Ide on the card for third place. "C" Flight's Todd Mullis also tasted victory for the first time with a winning score of 87 Saturday. John Rinaldi was only 2 shot back at 89 to finish in second, followed by Bert Rodriguez and Ken Burke. Rodriguez shot 90 and Burke 91 to round out the top four score.
