Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers continues his great play this summer, but even this one had to surprise Joe. All he did Saturday at Edgewater was set the course record and tie the all time score in any eGolf Amateur event at 8 under par. Jasper tied last Chase Wilson who shot 8 under par last year at the Warrior Golf Club. Jim Aughtry summed up Jaspers performance by watching him poor in eight birdies against no bogies on the day. Aughtry’s said†It did not matter if it was 30 feet or 3 feet it was going in; the cup was like a Bushel Basket to Joe todayâ€, fun to watch! Jaspers record setting performance was 4 under 32 on the front side matched by a 4under 32 on the back nine for the course record 64. Adam Vincent also shot under par a one under 71 performances. Adam played strong all day to capture second place and finish only 7 shots back of Jaspers. 74 became the log jam number for 3 and fourth spot. Chase Wilson, Bill Hall and Todd McPherson all shot 74’s on Saturday but Wilson got them both on the card for 3rd and Hall finished in 4th.
A Flight:
Jason Breedlove not only won Saturday but also took over the A Flight points lead from Andrew Chappius. Breedlove fired a 77 on Saturday for the victory which included a one over par 37 on the back nine. Sean Walsh cash in second place with 83 while Mark Day and Steve Williams tied at 84. On the scorecard playoff Day beat out Williams for third place money. Breedlove takes over the points lead but only by three.
B Flight:
As always one of the tightest flights for scores and the points leaders did not disappoint.
Greg McCoy won for the first time this season with a strong performance of 77. McCoy’s highlight on the day was a chip in eagle 3 at the par 5 17th hole. Vic Lawrence finished his round strong and almost caught McCoy by finishing birdie, par, birdie and shooting a second place score of 78. Terry Upright finished in third with 79 and held on to the points lead by a slim 5 points. Patrick O’Connor continues to improve in B flight since his promotion and shot 81 good enough for 4th place.
C Flight:
Sindo Mayor a staple on the Harris Teeter Senior Tour step up to play with the young guys and won his first event with a strong performance of 90. Dana Greer captured second spot with 91 and then Allen Hagen & Matt Crates were at 92. Hagen beat out Crates on the card playoff for third spot. Hagen third place finish enabled him to ties points lead Christian Casper each with 648 points and Darren Gentile in third has 641.5.
