"Champ" Flight - Jim Aughtry "A" Flight Chad Ballard "B" Flight - Scott Ide "C" Flight Chris Jenkins
Thanks to all the staff at CC of Salisbury once again showing us great playing conditions. Everyone who plays this old Donald Ross course continues to praise it highly. We look forward to stopping again for the final time this season in October.
Championship Flight:
Jim Aughtry continues his dominance in Champ Flight by firing another great score on Saturday. Aughtry’s round consisted of 3 birdies against no bogies for a 3 under par 68. Two players finished 3 shots back at 71, but it was Steve French beating out Alex Brenner on the card for second place. Brenner however did take home 2 skins and a closest on the day, his big shot was an eagle 3 on the par five 3rd hole. Round out the top five were Mike McBride and Michael Bailey at 74.
A Flight:
Chad Ballard played his best round yet on tour by firing a 2 over par 73 at Salisbury. Chad needed his great round as 2 other players were right on his heels with 75’s. Jon Evans and Russ Gamblin both shot 75 but it was Evans beating out Gamblin on the card for second spot. Congrats to Russ Gamblin who cashed for the first time this season. Jason Breedlove grabbed the fourth place spot with 78.
B Flight:
Scott Ide and Geof Smith provided the only sudden-death playoff of the day with both players finishing at 76. The playoff started on the 10th hole and it was Ide making par and Smith a bogie to finish the deal. It was Scott Ides’ first win of the season and Smith’s first cash. I have been joking with Smith ever since Fox Den to just cash and today he finally did, way to go Geof! Another tie came at 78 with Jimmy Chapman beating out Jeff Chalmers for third place. Look out for Chalmers in the coming weeks as he continues to improve and cash in events.
C Flight:
Another first time winner came in C flight on Saturday and also a promotion to B flight. Chris Jenkins had been playing erratically all season but when he finally got it all together he did so in a big way firing his tour low score of 78. Allen Hagen captured second place with 83, while John Rinaldi finished third with 85 and Christian Casper rounded out the top 4 at 86.
Remember we play the next 2 Saturday’s at River Hills on the 18th and Rock Barn (Jones) on the 25th!
River Hills Champ & A will play the Black Tees and B & C flight will play the Silver tees.
Practice rounds are available all week at River Hills CC for only $35. If you get a chance do yourself a favor and play a practice round this is always the toughest/highest scores we see all year on tour. Great track but very, very tight.
