Championship Flight:
Alex Brenner arrived just in time for his tee time, but was ready to play. Brenner birdied the first hole, 4th and 8th holes en route to a front nine score of 35. Brenner would mirror that score on the back nine with birdies at 12 & 14 for a 2under par total of 70. That looked to be a winning score until Todd McPherson Posted with another 2 under par round of 70. McPherson also started hot with a 33 on the front nine and then 37 on the back. The sudden-death playoff went to the 18th hole were both players made par. The next hole was the par 4 tenth hole where McPherson caught a plugged lie in the bunker to make bogie and loose to Brenner in sudden-death. Michael Bailey and Jim Aughtry both shot 74’s but it was Bailey winning 3rd place money on the scorecard playoff.
A Flight:
Jason Breedlove and Chad Ballard stood tied at 76 with only one scorecard to be turned in, so it look like we were going to have our second straight playoff of the day. Mike Nasekos ended that assumption as he posted a winning score of 75. Nasekos round was a crazy one starting on the 10th hole Nasekos played his best nine holes ever on tour posting a 4 under par 32. On the front nine everything changed but he held on to his one shot victory with 75. Ballard defeated Breedlove on the card for second place. Chris Hickey rounded out the top four with a smooth 79.
B Flight:
Durwin Striplin had recently been promoted to B Flight and took his promotion well and has stepped up his game ever since. On Saturday everything came together for Durwin as he won by one shot over 3 other players. Striplin fired an 8 over par 80 while the three others shot 81’s. Patrick O’Connor grabbed second on the card while Joe Burgess got third and Doug Watson 4th. It was a big day for Joe Burgess first winning the Scotty Cameron putter, then third place and also a closest to the pin.
C Flight:
Larry Hinson won by one shot on Saturday firing a blistering 83. Matt Crates finished in second place with 84. Charles Mines continues to move up in the C flight point’s race with a third place finish at 87. Jeff Gastineau was the only other player to break 90; with 89 and fourth place money.
