Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers grabs his second victory of the season as he fired a winning score of 71 Saturday at Edgewater GC. Greg Ries told me he had his best ball striking day ever on tour and after 10 holes was at 3 under par. His putter let him down a bit coming in but still had a great second place finish at 74. Jay Barnes, Dave Schmidt & Jeremy Boggs all tied at 75 with Barnes and Schmidt grabbing 3rd & 4th place on the card playoff.
A Flight:
For the second tournament in a row after 18 holes three players all stood tied at 78. Mike Nasekos, Richard Boone & Mike Parker all went back out to the 18th hole with Parker being ousted first. Richard Boone hit the pin with his second shot but the ball ended up 20 feet away and he 2 putted to tie Nasekos. The playoff then went an additional 4 holes until Nasekos made a five foot par putt to seal the victory. Rounding out the top four spots was Randy Hodges beating a host of players at 81.
B Flight:
Doug Watson won for the first time in several years with a great round of 77 on Saturday. Phil VanGeersdaelen also got back into the money finishing in second place with 81. Phil’s day was made even better with an eagle as he holed out on the par four 12th hole. Myrtle Beach tour player Eric Cocker beat out Cooper Daniel on the card playoff for third place money. Both players fired 82’s on Saturday.
C Flight:
Bill Holland knew before he teed off that this would be his last round for probably six months as he is going to have rotator cuff surgery this week. Holland made his last round count with a three shot victory at 84. Sindo Mayor fired 87 for second and Maurice Mack was third with 89. Patrick Williams rounded out the top four spots at 90.
D Flight:
Mason Hagen won for the second week in a row with 93. Newcomer Chris Rose also fared well as he finished in second place one shot back at 94. Matt Henson’s 95 was third and Paul Aschmann shot 96 for 4th place money.
