Championship Flight:
Joe Jaspers started out fast firing a 32 front nine to pull one shot of Dave Brown who had a 3 under par 33. The back nine became and adventure for both players as Jaspers shot 41 & Brown a 43. In the end David Schmidt had crept back into contention and we he made a long birdie putt on 16 he had caught Jaspers. Both players pared 17 and 18 and finished at 73. On the first sudden-death playoff hole Jaspers made a par and won at Cabarrus CC. Michael Bailey and Anthony White both shot 75’s but it was Bailey getting third on the card.
A Flight:
Greg Ries won for the first time all season but did so in fine fashion firing 36 on his inward nine for a one shot victory at 76. Daryl Ewing shoots a lot of 77’s and yesterday was not any different as his 77 was good enough for second place money. Dennis Reames kept his points lead with a third place finish at 81 while Greg McCoy beat out Mike Nasekos on the card for 4th place. Both McCoy and Nasekos finished the day at 82.
B Flight:
Newcomer Chase Carter hoisted his first ever Victory Stein as he fired a smooth 79 to win the B flight. Rich Daniel and Tom Chambers stood tied at 81 but Daniels nipped Chambers on the card for second place money. Likewise William Buie got 4th on the card over Dean Barron, Rich Dutcher and Randy Hodges with all players shooting 85’s.
C Flight:
Mike Hill who was promoted from D Flight several months ago gets his first victory in C flight on a sudden-death playoff. The playoff like Champ flight only went one hole as Hill pared. Both Hill and Dan Greer fired 89’s on Saturday. Larry Hinson always like Cowans and yesterday was no different as he grabbed third place with 90. Stephan N-Plotnicki cashed in fourth place with 91.
D Flight:
Josh Calhoun wins for the first time on tour firing 91. Vern Verna from the Upstate Tour finished in second with 100 and Derrick Hall 3rd at 102
