Huntersville native, Joe Jaspers, has captured the 2009 Carolina Am Golf Championship held August 1st and 2nd at Northstone Country Club in Huntersville. Because of Joe’s victory he received an automatic berth in the pre-qualifier for the PGA’s Wyndham Championship, to be held August 13th at the Bryan Park Golf Course - Browns Summit, NC.
Commenting on his victory Jaspers said, “I am thrilled to have a chance to qualify for a PGA golf event. As an amateur, this is an outstanding opportunity!â€
Jaspers shot a 2 round total of 134, 10 under par, besting the runner-up and 2008 champion, Cory Nagy, by 5 strokes. Heading into the final 9 Jaspers was 1 shot behind Nagy. Jaspers then birdied 3 of the last 9 holes while Nagy faltered with 2 bogeys on his final nine holes.

With only 5 tournaments left before Hilton Head each week counts big toward qualifying. Last year we had 550 players and expect to exceed that this year. Pairings from now until the end of the year will be based on your point’s standings so the leaders are always playing with the chasers.
Have a great week and hope to see all of you at Charlotte National – The course is in immaculate shape, greens rolling perfect!!!!
