Two weeks ago the Charleston Golf Week Amateur Tour took Lake Marion and left no prisoners with 65% of the field shooting 85 or better, Sat April 12th the tour took on Crowfield and with devilish pin placements and greens that really were not ready for those type of pin placements the tour saw 70% of the field post scores in the 90’s or higher. On a week when birdies and eagles will be celebrated with roars a couple hours away in Augusta, the only sounds coming out of Goose Creek on Saturday were groans and expletives. The following was the outcome of some hard fought golf.
Jeff Emory won the Champ flight by shooting a very very good round of 78 to outdistance both Matt McInnis and Jason Ray by four Shots. Jeff Emory was the only golfer of the day to break 80….what fun…..
The A flight saw new comer James Badgley post an 81 in his first tournament to post a one shot victory over Mark Ducker and Biff Huff who both posted rounds of 82 with Mark winning out on a scorecard playoff.
The B flight had just what the doctor ordered for our very own good doctor as James Ravenel fired a round of 84 that he stated “could have been better”! James posted a three shot victory over Joe Turner who has been steadily finishing in the money. Tony Walters was one shot back in third place.
The C flight saw Sean Metzger continue his solid play with a five shot victory over long hitting Craig Herring. Sean posted an 87 including two birdies.
In the D flight, Chris Hill posted his first victory of the year with a round of 101 followed by Brandon Bray’s 103 and Mike Miller’s 104.
The round of the day belonged to Dan Wanner, an A flight player who posted a round of 93 and went home with 433.00 by the virtue of the only non cut birdie in the Super Skins on hole 15…..way to go Dan!
