Seabrook Winds prove challenging!
The Charleston tour ventured down main rd. to Seabrook
Island for their annual Seabrook Soiree.
As usual the course was in spectacular condition. While the rest of
Charleston were cart path only, we were able to play the ball down. The weather was warm but the wind was brutal!
The Championship flight which continues to grow saw some awesome
golf played by both Caleb Loudin and Andy Balao. The two battle for the top spot all day and
both wound up posting incredible 75’s.
The two took to an on-the-course playoff with Andy edging Caleb on the
first hole, congrats to both.
The A flight had a nice crowd of 14 golfers competing. Glenn
powel started the day 6 over on his first three holes and then played his
steadiest golf of the year for a one-shot victory over steady Biff Huff,
79-80. Kevin Lyles and Al Dozier tied
for third with rounds of 84 with Al edging Kyle for the money with a back nine
score 39.
He B flight had former Charleston member and current
Charlotte member Mark Osborne want to change his thinking about Charlotte as he
fired a very nice round of 83 to beat out John Saager by two shots and Rolland
Hoffman by three, 84,85 respectively.
The C flight had the round of the day as Jesse Green fired
an unbelievable round of 6 over par 77 to win by a comfortable 12 shots!! His
round was steady as he carded 0 birdies and one double all day. Great playing Jesse. The rest of the flight was very tight as two
shots separated the next seven golfers.
The three who posted 89 all finished in the money, Jason Cooper, James
Ravenel, and Sam Marano had their positions decided on a scorecard playoff with
43, 44 and 45 respectively determining the finish positions.
The D flight had a new look with Larry Penfield taking home
first place honors with a very nice round of 94 to edge Bill Northrop by a
single shot. Congrats to all the winners!
Skins for champ and A were 44 each; B/C/D were 47 each and
Super skins (3) were 177 each. Due to
the maint on hole 17 we had 5 ctp’s which paid 55 each!
Our next event is this Sat at Crowfield plantation, always a
challenging course. Please sign up
