The Charleston Golf Week Amateur held their annual social
event at Crowfield Plantation Golf Course on April 21st. The wind was up a bit, the course was in good
shape and their was some fine golf played prior to our annual shindig after
party.
The Champ Flight saw new comer Jeff Sullivan show that he
will be a force all year with a dominate round of 75 from the tips to secure
his first victory in his first event. Actuall the race for second place was a
bit tighter than that for first as Stephen Kauble continued his solid play with
a nice round of 82 on this difficult day to secure second place by a shot over
Matt McInnis.
The A flight saw our first playoff of the day. Dennis Slezak and George Rasque both posted
impressive rounds of 80. The two headed
out to the first tee and with a big crowd by #1 green it was Dennis who
prevailed with a Par on the first playoff hole.
Rounding out the top three was Randy Tame who posted a solid round of
82.
The B flight was the next group to finish and again we had a
tie for first place that needed to be settled on the course. John Saager and Jerry Mast both posted rounds
of 84. They too took off for the first
tee box. Both players had nice chances
at par but Jerry let his slip on by the high side, giving John his first
victory of the year. Sean Kenneck who
came in third, one shot out of the playoff was the leard up till the last
couple of holes. All-in-all it was good
playing.
The C flight saw our first back to back Champion as Glenn
Eagerton followed up his nine hole victory at Orangeburg Country Club with a
win at Crowfiled. Glenn fired a steady
round of 84 for a three shot victory over Michael Menna who continued his solid
play. New comer Alex Hill rounded out
the top three and it appears it is only time till we see Alex taking a victory.
The D flight saw long time member Cowboy have a great
event. Cowboy posted his best score of
the year with a very solid 93 for a 10-shot victory over his friend Michael
Miller and Aaron Chase. Michael won on
the scorecard playoff with a back nine 52 to Aarons 54.
Our next event is a Monday Special Event at Orangeburg Country
Club. This will be a shotgun event starting around 1000. Please sign up early as we expect a large
crowd for this one.
