Crowfiled Plantation
The Charleston Golf Week tour ventured over to Goose Creek to tackle the city course that can play just as tough as any in the low country. Their new greens are coming in nice and the course is in great shape. Even with the recent rain the course played fast and true. The Championship flight saw John Ashmore post the round of the day with a 77 that included 3 birdies in the final four holes. Coming in second was Brian Kirhoffer. The A flight was bunched together with Biff Huff posting a solid 83 to take top honors. Stephan Jones and Mark Ducker tied for Second with a pair of 84’s with Mark taking the scorecard playoff with a final nine of 41 to Steph’s 43. The B Flight also had an 83 take top Honors. James Ravenel posted his first victory of the season with steady driving. He posted a one shot victory over new comer Rodney Judy who fired an 84 in his first ever event. Rounding out the top three a shot behind Judy was Jerry Mast who posted an 85. The C Flight saw Shanie Cooper claim her first title of the year as she posted a season low 85 to secure a one shot victory over Mitch Rose. Three shots back was Ricky Winter to round out the top three. The D flight continued the trend of first timje winners this year as Vince Ackerman carded a 92 for a five shot victory. This was Vince’s first win this year and first ever on the tour, Congratulations Vince. Sean Gilpen finished five shots back for second place honors. Many of the tour players commented on high much they enjoyed the course, even if they didn’t play well. It is a treat to play on greens like that “Dennis Slezak”, I enjoyed it. Stand by for announcements concerning our next event and till then keep it in the short grass.
