The Charleston Golfweek Amateur Tour traveled down to
beautiful Edisto Island to Tackle the Plantation Course at Edisto. This event had been delayed a eek due to Mother
Nature but on Sat the 24th the weather was absolutely
wonderful.

The A flight had a battle from the start as five golfers
posted scores of 38 or better on the front nine. One under par and two even and a couple two
shots over. Eric Malan proved a steady
had as he fired a 35, 37 for a one-shot victory over Fred Dixon who did his
best to catch Eric by birding two of the last three holes. In the B flight,
Roland Hoffman made his first appearance of the season a memorable one as he
fought it out with Jeff Babin for most of the day but with a solid back nine
Rolland (80) was able to hold off Jeff and Tim Sumption who both shot rounds of
86. In the C flight, Vince Ackerman,
Julie Johnson and Jack Overfield battled for most of the day and all were in a
shot or two of the lead. Vince used his
front nine score to hold off the two as he earned a one-shot victory over
Julie, 84-85 for his second win of the year.
In the D flight, the battle was between Aaron Chase and newcomer David
Deese. The two raged their battle with
Aaron pulling away on the back nine and posting a solid round of 90.
Charleston’s next local event will be Sep. 7th at
