The Charleston Tour had their
annual Spring social at Crowfield plantation on Sta March 2nd. The course was in great shape and the weather
provided us with the Spring part of the Spring Social. The social part was catered
by Irma’s Catering and was fantastic.
Everyone enjoyed the day; the golf was good and getting together is what
this tour is all about. Now for the golf
The Championship Flight fielded
one of the strongest fields we have seen over the past two years with some very
recognizable names competing. Their play
was strong and it came down to two bad holes for the second-place finisher,
Chris Asbel as he posted a 77. It was
Chris Ponds day as he played steady and fired an awesome round of one over par
73 to secure the victory.
The A Flight also witnessed some
very strong play as Tony Walters and Tony Capehart battled it out all day. The difference in their rounds was hole 18;
Capehart’s birdie putt went by the edge and Walters birdie putt found the middle
of the hole for a one-shot victory 77-78.
Sean Kenneck, Randy Tame and Jeff Rosier all posted solid 83’s to finish
in third place with Sean taking the scorecard playoff.
The B flight seemed more a battle
for second place than first as Jerry Mast fired a very nice round of 79 for a
three-shot victory over Tim Sumption (82) followed by John Saager’s 84 and
Billy Gamblin’s 85 to round out the filed
The C flight saw Chris Huge
continue his strong play by firing a nice round of 87 for a three-shot victory over
Vincent Ackerman who posted a nice round 90 to finish in second place.
The D flight saw Julie Johnson
play a very nice round by posting a strong 92 in the D flight for another
three-shot victory over Upstate’s Danny Sullivan who said he enjoyed the course
some by the food more!
Our next event is Kiawah’s Oak
Point on Mar 16th, always a great time of the year to play any of
the Kiawah’s courses. If you would like to play please sign up online or just
shoot me an email.
