The Charleston ventured down to the sleepy little beach city
of Edisto Island on Sunday March 13. It
was bit chilly to start but quickly warmed up and turned out to be a beautiful
day. With all the bad weather it was
certainly a nice break for us.
The Championship Flight was a bit thin due to the city
4-ball going on at the same time but it didn’t deter B.J. Hill from becoming
the first back-to-back winner this year on the tour. B.J. played a steady solid round for a three
over 73 to secure the victory.
Soon after B.J. became the first back-to-back winner, Mark
Ducker became the second back-to-back winner.
The A flight was a battle all day as no less than 8 different players
had or shared the lead throughout the day.
Mark’s steady play on the back nine is what led him to a one-shot
victory over Ron Cosgrove, 78-79, with Steve Walters a close third with a solid
round of 80.
The B flight had a first-time winner this year as Rick
Dilsworth fired a very nice round of 78 to cruise to a six-shot victory over
Columbia Tour’s Michael Sickles and Spencer Patterson who both card rounds of
84 to tie for second place. Although
both played very solid on the back nine it was Michael who secured second on
the playoff scorecard with a back nine 38 to Spencer’s 39.
The C flight had another first-time winner as Craig White
fired a nice round of 84 to secure the 2-shot victory of Tim Parrish. Tim took home the second place $$ over TJ
Grantier as both carded 86’s but Tim’s back nine of 43 to TJ’s 45 proved to be
the difference.
The D flight saw the return of Cleve Johnson to the winner’s
circle. Cleve carded a smooth 94 to
secure the 2-shot victory over Cowboy as the two were going neck and neck all
day. Ted Deese rounded out the winners
in the D flight.
Our next event is in two weeks, March 26th at
Lake Marion. Please sign up early for
this as we are expecting a sellout.
