The Charleston Tour ventured down historic HWY 61 to take on
Legend Oaks Golf Course. The weather
turned out to be fabulous, the golf course was in superb shape and there
definitely was some very nice golf on display.
The Champ Flight belonged to the new guys as Harrison Hall
and James Starr battle along with Mike Cobb all day. Harrison and James finished tied at 5 over 77. They took to hole one for a playoff and it
was the reining club champion at Legend Oaks defending his ground by capturing
the playoff victory.
The A flight had five guys finish with-in three shots of
each other. Dustin McGrath fired a four
over 76 to secure a single shot victory over Tony Capehart. Jace Gause birdied 18 to secure third place. That was some great playing.
The B flight was Rick Dilsworth’s to win till he hit a wall
on the back nine, going nine over on holes 15-16-17 to allow Tim Sumption to
creep in and secure his second victory of the year. Phil Cala and Jimmy Jones both posted 10 over
par 82’s but Phil’s back nine of 38 won the score card playoff over Jimmy.
The C Flight saw a first-time winner this year in Sam Marano
who fired an 86 to secure a one-shot victory over Mr. Steady, Tim Parrish and
Joseph Deese who both played spectacular. It was Sam’s almost ace on hole 11
that proved to be the difference.
The D flight also had a gentleman winning for the first time
this year as Michael Miller post a very nice round of 95 to secure a three-shot
victory of the D flight stud himself, Cleve Johnson! Rounding out the top three was Richard
Norwood who had some opportunities on the back nine but Michael just kept his
sound play all the way in.
