Charleston Tour Wraps up record season at Crowfield
The Charleston Tour tee’d it up at their last event of the
year at Crowfield Plantation on Sat Sep 18.
There were many tight races for the points championships and then there
was some spectacular play on one of the more difficult tracks the Charleston
guys play on. The course was in great
shape and the greens were probably the best we have seen them, a real treat.
In the Champ flight Mike Cobb and B.J. Hill were battling it
out for top honors for the year and for the tournament. T.A Fulmer and Bill Jenner were trying to put
a wrench in his plans as they battled it out all day. At one point during the event there were 4
guys under par with another 3 at even par……..In the end it was Mike Cobb who
rested his driver for the day and fired a 4 under par 68 to win not only the
tournament but the season long championship as well.
In the A flight it was a battle between Dan Wanner and Sean
Kenneck for the season long event as well as the points title! Sean was playing steady, good golf while Dan
was playing out of his mind making the turn at 3 under par to Sean’s 39. The back side it was Sean’s turn to go low
firing a 35 on the tough back side while Dan struggled a bit to a 40 to take a
one-shot victory for the day while capturing the Season long championship.
Glenn Powell rounded out the top three for the tournament
The B flight saw some great play as well as Glenn Stiles followed
up his win at Wyboo with a spectacular round of 76 followed by Jace Gause at 77
and as a matter of fact the top 7 golfers were separated by 6 shots!! The season long points winner had already
been decided so there was little excitement on that front.
The C flight had James Ravenel and Sean Metzger fighting it
out for the year long championship!
David Deese served notice that he will be a factor in the future as he
fired a career best round of 80 which helped James secure the Season Long title
with a solid round of 83 for second place with Julie Johnson rounding out the
top three with a nice round of 85 to finish up a strong season for her.
Like the B flight the D flight due to recent promotions to
the C flight had ultimately been decided as Cleve Jonson took home the season
long hardware!!! In the tournament, Dan
Adams continued his strong play with a very nice round of 86 to finish 7 shots
infront of Vince Ackerman with Dean Hill rounding out the top three.
Next up on the schedule is the National Championship at
Hilton Head. We will also be doing some
winter stuff so stay tuned to your emails!!
Thank you all for a great year! Tim & Irma
