Charleston cashes in at the season opening Ice Breaker in Hilton Head. The Charleston Golf week tour kicked off their season with a regional event on Hilton Head Island Jan 16-18. The event had people from all over the country show up as the the courses played were the Ronert Trent Jones course in Palmetto Dunes, arguably the nicest public track on the Island and the famous Harbor town golf course that the pros play the week after the Masters.
The Charleston tour had a great showing and took home their fair share of the prize fund! In the Champ flight Jared Bibbee had a strong showing in his first event as a Champ Flighter coming in 5th place after firing an opening round 80 on the Robert Trent Jones course on Sat. The A flight saw Charleston’s Mark Ducker continue his solid play at the Ice Breaker by taking home first place after catching the leaders on Sunday by firing a low round of the day 81 on the Harbor town course. Mark took home what seems like a record amount in prizes and cash for his victory. That is the fourth straight year that a Charleston Tour member has won the A flight at the Ice Breaker, with Mark winning three of them. Also in the A flight, new comer Andy Wood place third. In the D, second year man Aaron Chase tool home third while tour veteran Mike miller came in forth. Other Charleston members that took home prize money included Jason Courtney, Tim Sumption and Denny Miller. Overall it was a great weekend on two great courses.
