With a heat index of 110 degrees, Charleston Amateur Golf Tour tackled Legend Oaks Plantation on Sat.
In the A flight the golf was as hot as the weather as Mark Ducker and Dan Wanner fired identical rounds of 75 with five birdies each. The two way tie was taken to the course with Mark Ducker capturing the victory on the second playoff hole. Rounding out the top three was Columbia's Hiram Hicks who posted a very solid 83. Mike Bray from Augusta won Closest to the pin for the A flight.
The B flight also saw some red hot play as Denny Miller and Terry Harrelson who both played in the first group posted rounds of 80, only to be outdone by Devan Lawrence in the second group who fired a 78 on his way to his third tour victory of the year. Denny edged Terry in a scorecard playoff to secure second. Taking B flight CTP was Mike McNally playing in his first event.
The C flight had three shots separating the top three as Wayne Carter earned the victory by carding a solid round of 90, edging David Mays by one shot and Rich Cairns from Charlotte by two. Taking C flight CTP honors was Augusta's Rich Chase.
The D flight saw the return of Cowboy to the Victor's circle. This was Cowboys first win of the season. He posted a solid round of 91 to edge Dennis Harris for a one shot victory. Coming in third was Columbia's Thomas Haddad and Chris Hill rounded out the top four.
It was a very hot day but the course was in great shape and as you can see there was some super golf played. Our next event is at Charleston National on Jul 14th. Lets sign up early for this one.
