Charleston and Columbia travel to one of SC best kept
secrets and all the hype is true!
The Charleston and Columbia tours got together for a combo
event at Wyboo Golf Club in Manning. Joining us were quite a few of our Myrtle
Beach Friends. You knew the day was
going to be special with a few NFL guests joining us, Harold Green and Sterling
Sharpe. The play on the course was spectacular
to say the least. The Champ flight
stretched out to almost 7000 yards on a soggy golf course and we still had some
great scoring, Dustin McGrath fired a two over round of 72 to secure the victory,
edging out three golfers who posted very nice rounds of 3 over 75; B.J. Hill our
Champ flight points leader, T.A. Fulmer and Sterling Sharpe.
The A flight had some unbelievable playing as Dan Wanner and
Beth Hunt both fired rounds of under par.
Dan and Beth were tied as he headed to the 18th hole. Needing
at least a Par to ensure a playoff, Dan took dead aim with his approach,
hitting it to 5 feet and making the birdie putt to secure the victory. Beth’s incredible round included an eagle on
hole 9 for the only super skin of the day and Sean Kenneck rounded out the top
three with an even round of 72!
The B flight saw Bryant Johnson get back on the tour with a vengeance
as he fired a 5 over par 77 with 4 birdies for the win by one shot over three
players tied at 78, Robin Neverve, Byron Johnson and Tim Sumption with the
scorecard playoff for second going to Robin on the strength of his back nine
score of 38.
The C flight also had some great scores as Sean Metzger
fired a 79 for a one-shot victory over Brannon Simmons . Theyre was a 3-way tie for third with Harold
green, Johnny Brock and Charles McClerkin who all posted very nice rounds of
81. Harold Green won the scorecard
playoff for third while Johnny edged Charles for fourth.
The D flight was the only flight that wasn’t hotly contested
as William Beck carded a smooth 84 for a five-shot victory over Bob Hill. Then it was the Myrtle beach guys, Chuck Lane
and Shelly Martin coming in 3rd and 4th respectively. Our next event is the Labor Day Regional and
our last local event is Crowfiled, please sign up early for that one.
Additionally, there are some events coming up that are worth
