The Charleston Tour wrapped up their season this past
Saturday at Kiawah’s Oak PT. Up for
grabs was not only the tournament, but also the season long point’s
championship for each flight as well as the Player of The Year.
The Championship Flight had first place up for grabs in the
tournament as well as the season long point’s battle. Eric Maland had come into the tournament
needing a win to overtake B.J. Hill. T.A
Fulmer and Mike Cobb both proved to be tough obsticles. T.A started at 2 under
after five holes and then ran into some trouble on hole 6. Mike shot even par on the front nine and then
blistered the back side for a 4 under par 68 to take home top honors with the
season long title going to B.J. Hill.
Congrats to both of you.
The A flight had all sorts of drama as Biff Huff, Glenn
Powell, Sean Kenneck and Kevin Lyles all within shouting distance for the season
long points title. Andy Balao and john
Ashmore put a damper on the chasers as the two battled it out all day. In the end it was Andy playing some of the
best golf of the year as he fired a two under par 70 to take home top honors in
the A flight with John posting a very nice round of 74 for second place and
Steve Walters rounding out the top three with a very solid 3 over par 75. In the end biff held on to the season long
title.
The B flight had their points leader already decided as john
Saager had a very nice season to take home the B flight top spot. The tournament had some spectacular play as
the top eight spots were separated by only 4 shots. Jesse green and Chris Huge both finished one
shot up on Joe huotari who shot a solid round of 81 for third place. Jesse and Chris headed to hole one for a
playoff but apparently Jesse was in a hurry as he birdied the first extra hole
to take home top honors.
The C flight also had their season long points leader
determined but they also wound up with two tied with very nice rounds of
82. Julie Johnson and Vince Ackerman
headed to hole one for an on-the-course playoff as well. Julie won the playoff with a par on the first
hole and the season long points title went to Larry Penfield. Larry was also the Charleston Tour Player of
the Year! Great Job larry!
The D flight points leader for the year was Mike Miller, one
of the longest tenured players on the tour.
Everyone was happy to see Mike take the honors! Mike was trying to double up with a victory
but bill Northrop played some of his best golf of the year to take home the top
spot in the tournament with a very solid round of 88 to win by four shots on
Mike Miller.
