Kauble Slams the Door!!
The Charleston and Myrtle Beach Tour got together for a
little tournament at Rivertowne Country Club on Sunday Aug 20. Outside of an hour and forty five minute rain
delay it turned out to be a great event with some great golf being played.
The Championship Flight had some solid play and only 1
stroke separated the top five with three players shooting 76 and two shooting
77. The three 76’s Jeff Emory, Stephen
Kauble and Marc Paulsen took the course for a sudden death playoff. All three players got off the box with a
couple of them in the rough. Stephen
wasted little time in this playoff as he fired a beautiful shot three feet from
the pin for a slam the door birdie!
Great job to all three golfers as the course was especially tough after
the rain delay.
In the A flight the rain delay may have had more of an
impact. The entire leader board changed
in the last few holes with Fred Dixon going back to back birdies on holes 15
and 16 to claim a one shot victory over Glen Powell. Comin in Third was Myrtle Beach Tour Director
Jason Dores who had a chance to match Fred at 5 over but his par putt at 18
slid by on the high side. In the B
flight Randy Tame fired an excellent round of 78 to claim top honors. Randy played so well he earned a promotion to
the A flight, congrats Randy! Coming in
Second was Myrtle Beach’s Beth Hunt who played a steady round and posted a very
nice round of 81 while Bill Chick took third place honors with smooth 84. The C flight saw a struggling golfer Jack
Overfield, Turn it around. Jack played
some superb golf firing an 84 to post a three shot victory over Vince Ackerman. The D flight saw Myrtle Beachs John Davis win
his first event ever! Congratulations
John! John posted a solid round of 93
for a two shot victory over Sean Gilpin.
