The Charleston and Hilton Head Golf Week Amateur Tour's held their first combo
event of the year as 72 players took to the newly renovated Osprey Golf Course
on Kiawah Island. The weather was perfect after the 1 hour frost delay.
In the
Championship flight we had a Playoff as both Davis Mullany and Matt Eisenmenger
fired rounds of 78. The two took to the course for a sudden death playoff.
After Eisenmenger missed an eight footer for birdie on the first hole, Davis
ended it with a birdie of his won on the second.
The A flight saw the Myrtle
Beach tour director show that he is a player as well; Jason Dores played a great
round and shot the tournament low of 76 to capture the victory. Three golfers
finished one back and their places were determined by a back nine scorecard
playoff. Andy Wood, Lenin Lezcano and Carson Hunt rounded out the top four.
In
the B flight, Marc Godzi returned to the Charleston tour and tied Aaron Tanner
of the Hilton head group with rounds of 84. Due to impending darkness, we had
to use a back nine playoff score for these two and Aaron had fired a 41 on the
back to take the victory. Paul McGee followed these two with a nice round of
85.
The C flight saw some spectacular play as Noel Cooligan fired a career best
round of 79 followed by the hot Jimmy Bryson who posted a very nice round of 81.
Rounding out the top three was newcomer Mike Sams with a smooth round of 85.
The
D flight saw Aaron Chase continue his hot play from last year as he posted a 93
to win by two shots over Sean Gilpin and Ted Wojtkwiak. Sean and Ted settled
things like the others with Sean posting a better back nine score to take home
second place.
With 72 golfers the skins and pins paid out quite nice. our next
event is Feb 21st at Wild Dunes, Harbor course. Please sign up early or shoot
me an email to let me know you would like to play.
