The Charleston Golf Week Amateur tour traveled up 95 to tackle Lake Marion Golf Course this past Saturday. The weather started iffy but cooperated for one of the best weather days of the years for the Charleston Tour and the scoring showed. Over 25% of the field posted scores in the seventies as the players enjoyed the warm weather for a change.
Jeff Emory lead the way by besting the field in the Championship flight with a round of 77. Jeff posted a two shot victory over Jason Ray who had four birdies in route t a 79.
The A flight saw the round of the day as Tony Capehart was back in town after a month in Chicago. He defrosted himself and the golf course with smooth round of 76 for a one shot victory over Jace Gause. Biff Huff won a 3 way scorecard playoff with Dan Wanner and Mark Ducker who all fired rounds of 78.
The B flight saw Tony Walters post his first victory of the year by shooting a very nice round of 79 for a one shot victory over Denny Miller.
The C flight was very tight as well. Sean Metzger posted a one shot victory over Crag Herring as they posted rounds of 84 and 85 respectively.
The D Flight saw John Wilson continue his hot streak to start the year as John fired a round of 94 for a 3 shot victory over Steve Hartoin.
It was really nice to finally get some nice weather; we hope it continues at our next event which is a major on April 12 at Crowfiled Country Club
