Jeff Wong, Brent Densmore, Paul Sherry, Lamont Middleton and Paul Baker all win the Hilton Head-Jacksonville Local Finals and punch their tickets to the 2019 Tour Championship in October!
Championship Flight:
Jeff Wong came from one shot back over two players on Sunday
as he posted a two under par round of 70 win by two shots at 74-70-144. The victory is Wong’s fifth in a row on the
Hilton Head tour, hopefully he stays undefeated in 2019 and wins the Golfweek
National Championship. Terry Lanning was solo second at 73-73-146 followed
by Mark Caffee (NCF) with 73-76-149.
Chris Legare rounded out the top four places with 75-77-152.
A Flight:
Brent Densmore also came from behind to win by five on
Sunday. Brent’s two day total was 155
followed by Mitch Howard (Jacksonville) at 160 and Joe Combs with 161. First round leader David Cook rounded out the
top four places with 162.
B Flight:
Paul Sherry led wire to wire with rounds of 79-78-157 for a
six shot victory. Beth Hunt (Myrtle
Beach) came roaring back into second place with a 77 on Sundays round and a two
day total of 163. Mike Salik
(Jacksonville) was third at 165 followed by John Robinson at 167.
C Flight:
Lamont Middleton (Columbia) wins by five at 173, followed by
Beau Flynn (Jacksonville) at 178. Third
place went to Ed Cassidy at 179 and Josh Gibson (Jacksonville) was fourth at
184.
D Flight:
Paul Baker came from way back with 93 on Sunday to win in a
sudden-death playoff over Aaron Masterson.
In the playoff Masterson never found his ball off the first tee and conceded
the victory to Baker. Both players fired
two day totals of 203. Michael Birzon
(Jacksonville) was third at 206 followed by Chad Friedmann (Jacksonville) with
216.
Thanks to all the Hilton Head members as the tour is just
shy of 100 members now and boasted over 40 new members joining in 2019. The 2020 schedule will be out right after
nationals and we hope each of you bring one new member to the tour in the
offseason to get us over the 150 member mark!
